Dennis Buchmann has a background in biology and journalism. He won the Scoop!-competition with his idea of the human-global coincidence of the Axel Springer Publisher and was able to realize the magazine through the money he won by taking part in the contest. After that he joined the organization, where he has been working for five years. His study project has grown into a small firm, that works to give a face to the pigs behind the pork we eat. Adopt a day, the title of his talk, is an idea for a book he is currently working on.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.*
