Conversation with author Winston Groom. Groom is an American novelist and non-fiction writer, best known for his book “Forrest Gump” which was adapted into a film in 1994. Forrest Gump, a work in the tradition of southern fiction that became a cultural phenomenon after it was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film of the same name in 1994. Groom has written a number of novels that draw on his experiences in Vietnam. Today, Groom devotes his time to writing history books about American wars. Groom’s work as a narrative historian has earned him much praise by general reviewers, who see him as presenting historical events in a novelistic manner for a general readership. Hear Groom talk about his life as an author and the lessons he learned during his life long career as a writer.
