Katie founded More Than Me in 2009 after years of working with poverty-stricken children in communities throughout the world. Katie wanted to see change; to encourage people to live for something bigger than themselves. Over the years, More Than Me’s efforts to grow, led by Katie, have gained recognition through Bono’s ONE Foundation, the United Nations, the New Jersey Commission on the status of Women, and New Jersey Seeds of Hope. In December of 2012, More Than Me won the Chase American Giving Awards, being recognized as a leading Educator and Mentor. Katie is also a lauded public speaker, having spoken to over 40,000 people on the Challenges and Solutions to Global Poverty through Oprah’s Angel Network. In her free time, Katie can be seen on her fire engine red bicycle on the city streets, or performing spoken word poetry.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
