This week, the Communicators speaks with two commissioners on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Maureen Ohlhausen (R) and Julie Brill (D). They discuss the FTC’s enforcement role in addressing privacy and the Internet, as well as how it reached settlements with Google and Facebook and other companies on privacy issues. The FTC also is looking at cramming — unauthorized or deceptive charges on consumers’ telephones bills. Recently the FTC recommended that Congress write new consumer privacy legislation.

The interviews took place at the recent Cable Show in Boston. The Cable Show is sponsored by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association.
