The progress of women’s rights in Saudi Arabia.

Lama Al Sulaiman was elected deputy chairwoman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry in December 2009, becoming the first female to hold such a post in Saudi history. She was elected as the Municipal Councilor at the Jeddah Council in 2015 before a surprising resignation. “Women’s issues are still on my priority list, especially those who are in leadership positions. I want men’s acceptance of women around them.” A mother of four, she is well aware of the delicacies of being a Saudi woman in her position: “You have to proceed carefully. You have to respect others.”
